1. Configure Your Gmail Settings ✅
- First, log in to your Gmail account. Head over to Settings ➡️ All settings.
Next, click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab. Enable these options:
- Enable POP for all email
- Enable IMAP
And don’t forget to hit Save changes. You’ve nailed step one! ✔️
2. Activate 2-Step Verification 🔐
- If you’re a Google Workspace admin, make sure to enforce 2-factor verification for your organization.
For everyone else, ensure that 2-step verification is activated in your Google account. It’s a small step for big security!
3. Generate an App Password 🗝️
- Head over to your Google Account Security Settings. In the search bar, type App passwords. Enter 'Email' for the app name.
- Click Create and copy the password provided. This will replace your standard password for the SMTP and IMAP server setup.
4. Update Your Sales Engagement Tool Account Settings 🛠️
- Now, let’s head back to your Sales Engagement Tool account. Go to Settings ➡️ Email Settings
- Click on Add button and select Custom Gmail.
When you have chosen the Gmail Template and enter the following details:
- Username: Your Gmail address.
- Password: The app password you just generated.
The SMTP and IMAP details should be pre-filled in the form for you. Easy-peasy! 😎
⚠️ Important: If 2-step verification isn’t turned on yet, please activate it and then follow the steps above.
